Alibag has a warm climate with hot, humid summers featuring torrential monsoon rains and fairly temperate winters.
CONCEPT:
The primary concern for Apostrophe A+uD was to create long term value for the eventual residents of the Aspen Condos. The project creates modest apartments for middle income households which resulted in small footprints to the individual units. Apostrophe focused on several aspects to augment value for the residents;
-
Efficient design of floorplans to reduce circulation space, maximize storage and living areas.
-
Large windows and balconies to extend the living area footprint of the units.
-
Cross Ventilation with units having openings in three directions to assist in natural comfort in the hot humid climate. The units open into a partially shaded courtyard on the inner face that acts as a chimney further increasing the ventilation within the complex.
-
Ground Floor is dedicated to open landscape and amenities (traditionally used for parking) which creates a shaded and ventilated amenity space for building occupants.
-
Efficient design of structural core and building circulation.
-
Upper level units have partially sloped roofs and a private roof terrace.
