DOCKYARD TOWER,
MUMBAI
2014
SITE:
The project is located in the heart of the old industrial belt of Central Mumbai. On the east are the Indra Docks and just to the South are the shunting yards for the C. Shivaji Train Station.
The neighborhood is in transition from a former industrial area that has recently become a haven for slums and unregulated construction. However, as proximity to the new infrastructure and especially connectivity of the Elevated Port road and the planned Trans-Harbor Link.
CONCEPT / PROCESS:
The design strategy of terracing landscape / building mass was framed to take advantage of the sweeping views over the harbor and the bay beyond.
Each apartment has openings on multiple sides allowing for cross ventilation which helps mitigate the hot humid climate of Mumbai.
